Betty’s Demise
Indie Rock — Fremantle/p>
A chance encounter while on a fag break outside the Purple Turtle nightclub in Oxford led to what has become one of the most inspirational chats in Carl Fidler’s
musical journey. The famous sweatbox was where Carl went to soak up the vibes in the hometown of one of his favourite bands, Ride.
Conversations soon turned to “shoegazer” and after recounting many cherished memories over many pints, Carl made the decision to write and release his love songs to the genre. Betty’s Demise explores Carl’s favourite aspects of the shoegazer sound; the wash of guitars, the harmonies, moments of tension and dissonance followed by release and relief.
